Bacteria: An Even Cleaner BioFuel

I just read about this very interesting research on Professor Van Cotthem's Desertification Blog. The original article appeared in Science Daily. His blog listing can be accessed from the following article link or from his blog on the right side of this blog.

The title is:
The research is being conducted at UCLA and offers a fascinating alternative to creating biofuels from both plants and algae! The scientists have created a bacterium that is powered directly by photosynthesis. It is much more efficient and less expensive because it does not require the intermediate steps of using plants or algae.
This bacterium actually consumes carbon dioxide in the process of producing clean fuel.
